A premier Salida, Colorado, golf course reflects its pristine setting
The Friend Ranch golf course, located near Salida, Colorado, is designed by award-winning architect Ric Buckton of Redstone International. It is the natural centerpiece of the Friend Ranch Golf Community. The golf holes roam around and over trout streams and beaver ponds, through lofty cottonwoods, old pinons, grasslands, and up rugged terrain. Every round of golf at Friend Ranch Golf Community is a diverse journey. Set in the Arkansas River valley near Salida, Colorado, and surrounded by 14,000-foot Colorado mountains, this Salida golf course offers generous landing areas and run-ups to most of the greens that are sure to please the casual golfer and beginner golfer. Skilled golfers can challenge themselves from the back golf tees of this spectacular high mountain Arkansas River valley layout. Buckton and his team have integrated demanding hazards and lines of play for the golfer to engage those who thrill to the toughest tests. The visually dramatic par three second golf hole plays downhill to a greensite set in a bend of the Little Arkansas River with Shavano Peak framed in the background by massive cottonwood trees. Stunning! A golfer's dream if you ever did see one.
Construction began on the Friend Ranch Golf Community 18-hole golf course on September 25, 2007, and the first nine golf holes are estimated to be grassed in by fall 2009. The full eighteen golf holes are estimated to be ready for golf in fall 2010. The Golf Shop, Grill and Clubhouse facilities are planned for construction starting mid-2010. At the discretion of the Club, construction of the golf clubhouse may not commence until 50% of all Golf Memberships have been sold.
